Deuleu DzoebawGolden Triangle

The Golden Triangle Peoples' Art and Handicraft started in 1975, when an enthusiastic Akha woman, Deuleu Dzoebaw, and her friends turned their energy to promoting Akha culture.

Where are the products made?

Small gifts, etc.

Many of the smaller products are made on site and you can often see the Akha women working away in the afternoon, making intricate beaded belts and beautifully hand embroidered bags and wallets. Other items come directly from the villages. The women try to combine the beautiful traditional embroidery with more modern styles. There is an extensive range of styles available but if customers can't find something they like, clothes can be made to order. Belts made from beads and coins Traditional colouring methods and embroidered patterns have been passed down through the centuries.

The Mountain women want to bring their produce to you as directly as possible and without middlemen. They hope that by visiting their showroom you will remember them, often struggling for survival, as the main manufacturers.

Come and see for yourself!

We invite you to come and take a look round our showroom packed with handmade garments as worn by many of the mountain peoples. Come and talk to Deuleu herself, who is happy to give information on the Akha peoples.

Where do the profits go? The Shop and Showroom help support the many projects being undertaken by MPCD-SEAMP, based at the same centre. Proceeds also go directly to those women who make the products.
